Vincent E. Stokes II

Elder Dr. Vincent E. Stokes, II is the seventh elected Pastor of New Sardis Primitive Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio, where he has been a faithful member for over 25 years. A lifelong Clevelander, he overcame early adversity to answer his call to ministry in 2004 and was ordained an Elder in 2011.

 

He holds degrees from Fisk University (B.A. in Religion and Philosophy), Yale University (Master of Divinity), Johns Hopkins University (M.S. in Education), and Azusa Pacific University (Doctor of Ministry). He is currently pursuing a Juris Doctor, a Master of Public Administration, and a Ph.D. in Urban Education at Cleveland State University.

 

In addition to his pastoral ministry, Elder Dr. Stokes is an educator, community leader, and advocate for justice. He was recognized as University Heights’ Citizen of the Year in 2021. His ministry is centered on discipleship, social action, and empowering the next generation through faith, education, and service.

 

On City Council, Elder Dr. Stokes will focus on:

Protecting Reliable City Services & Infrastructure: Ensure dependable backyard trash pickup, road and sidewalk repairs, and strong year-round services.

Investing in Youth & Education: Create safe, consistent programs that support young people through recreation, mentoring, and workforce opportunities.

Supporting Seniors: Expand transportation, housing assistance, and wellness initiatives to keep seniors connected and thriving.

​

Strengthening Public Safety & Trust: Advocate for accountability, transparency, and community-centered policing.

​

Driving Smart Development: Champion economic growth that revitalizes University Heights while preserving neighborhood character.
